Marco Gualazzini, photographer.

Marco Gualazzini is a documentary photographer and journalist. For more than twenty years, his work has focused on humanitarian crises, conflict, environmental issues, and civil rights, with particular attention to the African continent and vulnerable communities.

Throughout his career, he has worked on social and geopolitical issues in several international contexts, producing reportages on microfinance in India, freedom of expression in Myanmar, discrimination against minorities in Pakistan, and humanitarian emergencies across Africa and the Middle East.

His work has been published by The New York Times, TIME, National Geographic, CNN, Al Jazeera, Internazionale, Corriere della Sera, la Repubblica, and numerous other Italian and international publications.

Alongside his editorial activity, he develops visual communication and storytelling projects for companies, NGOs, and international organizations, collaborating with partners including Chiesi Farmaceutici, UNHCR, and Save the Children.

In 2019, he received the World Press Photo 2019 award in the Environment Stories category. Other recognitions include the Getty Images Grant for Editorial Photography, the Premio Marco Luchetta, and the PDN Photo Annual.

His photographs have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including at Forma Meravigli, Palazzo Pigorini in Parma, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Dakar, and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Praga. In 2018, he published Resilient with Contrasto; in 2024, Il torrente Parma was published by Dario Cimorelli Editore.

Marco Gualazzini is a lecturer in photojournalism at Università di Parma.
